Join us on Thursday, 18th July 2024, from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm

We are excited to invite you to an exclusive tour of Richardstown Farm with local farming brothers Tony & Pat McGuinness in Richardstown, Dunleer, Co. Louth. This is a unique opportunity to spend time with a commercial farmer and discover the techniques and sustainable practices that make their farm a standout in the region.

The event will include

Guided Tour by Expert: Tony McGuinness will lead a tour through the farm, highlighting the processes involved in growing crops such as winter barley, willow, and potatoes. He will also talk about the crops he is growing as part of the LUFS project including broad beans, Red & White Millet and Linseed.

We will also have a guest speaker from Hedgerows Ireland to talk about the importance of hedgerows.

Exclusive Insights: Learn about Tony’s involvement in the Louth Urban Food Sanctuary project and the successes and challenges he has encountered growing non-native crops on the farm.

Q&A Session: Have your burning questions answered by Tony about the intricacies of running a successful commercial farm.

Plant Swap: Bring your plants and swap with other growers – a perfect chance to diversify your garden!

Limited Spaces Available! We will be organising transport to and from the event for those who do not wish to drive themselves, so registration is essential. If you have been to one of our previous events or have been watching Louth Urban Food Sanctuary and would like to attend on the day, email creativeireland@louthcoco.ie to register and mention your area and preference for transport.
